The EPA (the United States Environmental Protection Agency) has established a list of disinfectants that meet their criteria for use against COVID-19, known as the coronavirus. Our Lysol products meet either EPA’s Viral Emerging Pathogen policy or have human coronavirus claims.
Why does my Lysol list human coronavirus on the label?
Many Lysol products are EPA registered in order to kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria which might also include the human coronavirus. Human coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from something as common as the cold to more severe diseases. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a new coronavirus strain according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
Can I use Lysol Disinfectant Spray to disinfect my hands or food?
Lysol disinfecting and cleaning products are for surfaces and not for personal use on the body. They may not be used on the body or on food and should always be used as directed.
How should I best use Lysol products?
To ensure the correct and effective use of your Lysol product, you should always follow the instructions on the back of the label on the product.
Where should I not use Lysol?
Lysol products are recommended for most hard surfaces as well as many soft surfaces.
You should not use Lysol Disinfectant Spray on brass, copper, aluminum, or any painted wood surfaces. Lysol Disinfectant Spray is not recommended for use on leather rayon, silk, or satin fabrics or any acrylic plastic, or else it may end up ruined.
